ENGL 01B Baker: Recommended eBook Databases

Introduction to Literature

eBook Database

Remember, you don't have read an entire book to use it for research purposes. You can use a specific chapter. Use the table of contents and index to help you find potentially relevant sections of a book.

  • The table of contents is the list of chapters near the front of the book, which typically include the page number where each chapter begins. Sometimes the titles are helpful, but sometimes they aren't very descriptive.
  • The index is the list of important terms at the back of a book, to help you pinpoint the exact pages or page range where particular terms or concepts are mentioned.
