In this 30-minute tutorial, you will learn how to:   

  • access OneSearch
  • use filters to specify the kind of source you are interested in
  • find locations for physical items, including books & textbooks
  • place holds (excludes textbooks)
  • cancel holds
  • renew items
  • find and access articles
  • describe the advantages and disadvantages of using OneSearch vs. a subject-specific database

You can take the tutorial as often as you'd like, and you can also download a PDF certificate of completion with your name, score, and timestamp. 

Reference and eBook Database Tutorials

EBSCO's new user interface went into effect on September 1, 2024, so it will take some time to develop brand-new tutorial videos. In the meantime, the team at EBSCO has several webpages with how-to information for EBSCO eBooks.

Multidisciplinary Database Tutorials

EBSCO's new user interface went into effect on September 1, 2024, so it will take some time to develop brand-new tutorial videos. In the meantime, the team at EBSCO has developed a general EBSCO tutorial that will work for most of the library's 36 EBSCO databases, including Academic Search Complete.

This video walks you through how to set up your NYT Pass. Although the instructions are for another university, the instructions are the same except that when you register, you will use your MCCD email address. You also need to be on campus for the initial registration.
