You'll occasionally find a book or an article that the Merced College Library does not own or have access to through the databases.

We can ask another library to send us the book or the article through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). We will always try to get it for free, but the lending library might charge to make a copy of the article or to mail the book. Depending on the lending library, charges can range anywhere from $5 - $25. On the ILL PDFs, please mark if you are willing to pay if necessary, and how much.

The ILL PDFs have a submit button. If you use Internet Explorer as your browser, we will receive the form. If you are using Firefox or Chrome, please save the form, and then email it as an attachment to refdesk@mccd.edu.

Research Assistance

• Ask for research help from a faculty librarian at the Information Desk or text, call, or chat.

Learning & Research Materials

• Databases to find eBooks, articles, etc. Find these tools through the Library tab in your student Portal.
• Books, DVDs, & CDs to checkout. The books check out for two weeks. Check them out with your student ID at the Circulation Desk.
• Magazines (2nd floor) & reference books (1st floor) to use in the library. No time limits, and no check out required.
• Textbooks for use in the library. These books are provided by your instructors. The textbooks check out for two hours. Check them out with your student ID at the Circulation Desk (1st floor). Circulation staff will need the call number to pull a textbook. Use the standing computers to look up the number. The librarians can help you.

Technology

• Computers, Microsoft Surface Pros, iPad Minis to check out and use in the library. Check them out for two hours at a time with your student ID at the Circulation Desk (1st floor).
• Printers & photocopiers in color (40 cents / page) or black & white (10 cents / page). You will need a print card to print. They cost $1, and you can add money to them. Ask for help from a library media technician at the Help Desk near the computers / printers.
• WiFi. Use MCCD-WiFi & your Portal login information.

Spaces

• Two quiet floors for you to study.
• Group study rooms on both floors. Check them out with your student ID at the Circulation Desk (1st floor) or Periodicals Desk (2nd floors).
• You can have covered drinks in the library, except near the library computers. Please eat snacks or meals outside of the library.
