Helpful Hints!

Searching tip:  use a single concept, word, vocabulary or topic: the databases, books and indexes search effectively when you break your search into single keywords and terms.

  • The vast majority of the library's art analysis is available in print format in the reference section.  You will need the Call Number associated with the item.  Come see a librarian!

  • Spelling matters!  90% of the time, if you don't see any results, check the spelling.

How to Find Books

Books are arranged in the library under call numbers. You can find the call number for a book you need by using the search box above. Searches in the box are keyword searches.  Simply put in the name of the artist like Andrew Wyeth or the technique like sculpture or the style like Art Nouveau.

Remember, these searches don't look inside the book. Use general terms, and then go look at the index or table of contents of the actual book.

Students may have books from the Merced College Library sent to the Los Baños Campus Library, and vice versa, to check out.

Books check out for two weeks at a time.
