Copyright for Merced College: Our Textbook Policy

The Library does not determine the copyright of a given textbook or film but we are required to abide by copyright law.

Students are expected to purchase or rent textbooks.  Library copies of textbooks are provided as a service until such time as a student is able to acquire their own copy.  They are a stop-gap only.

Textbooks & materials on reserve are available.

• Semester (18 weeks)           - You may request one chapter per week per textbook to be scanned and emailed to your MCCD email account
• Short-Term (9 week)             - You may request two chapters per week per textbook to be scanned and emailed to your MCCD email account
• Fast Track (6 week or less)  - You may request three chapters per week per textbook to be scanned and emailed to your MCCD email account

Don't want an email with scans? You can request to pick up paper copies.

The time to process for fulfilling requests is typically between 24-48 hours depending on request load. Requests are not filled on weekends, non-instructional days, nor holidays.
